Attention ALL Actors!

 

The Cherokee Heritage Center in Tahlequah, OK is holding auditions for Cherokee men and women for "Under the Cherokee Moon." This will be the second year for the region's only historical dinner theater, bringing Cherokee history to life from the 1700s and 1800s. During this interactive experience, the audience steps back in time with us, becomes part of the show and watches as history unfolds before their eyes. Highly acclaimed by audience members and critics alike, "Under the Cherokee Moon" was given high marks for historical accuracy by Cherokee historians.

 

Needed: Cherokee men and women, ages 20s-60s (acting experience preferred, but not essential).

Roles: Peace Chief Attakullakulla, War Chief Oconostota, Beloved Woman Nancy Ward, Dragging Canoe and Captain Nathaniel Gist.

There will also be two non-speaking roles for Warriors who accompany Dragging Canoe.

We will also need understudies who will also be paid for rehearsals and any performances they are called to do.

Audition dates: Thursday, April 3 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday, April 4 from 12 noon - 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Prepare a one-minute monologue, speech or poem.

Location: At the Schoolhouse at Adam's Corner, Cherokee Heritage Center off Willis Road south of Tahlequah, OK (918-456-6007 or see website below for directions).

Performances: Friday and Saturday evenings from May 30 - August 16, 2008. Actors receive pay for performances and rehearsals.

Rehearsals: Tuesday and Thursday evenings from late April - May 27.

Pay: Actors will be paid for rehearsals and for performances.
